Are You Taking Care of "Your" Body?

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."
(1 Corinthians 6:19-20 )

God created us for himself and to dwell within us. As Christians we are a temple of the living God and we have a responsibility to take care of the body both spiritually and physically (1 Timothy 4:7-9). So when it's all said and done, we do not belong to ourselves but to God. Thus, we do not have the right to do anything that harms "our" body.

An unhealthy body not only wreaks havoc physically but it also hurts the body spiritually.  It ultimately can prevent us from reaching our full potential in God. Alcohol, tobacco/drugs, stress, obesity, and un-Christ like attitudes are all just a few of the countless "toxins" that harm/defile the body. If something is not good for my body and ultimately harms my body, why subject myself to it if it dishonors God and prevents me from being all that I could be in Him?
