Green Giants

It is so beneficial to incorporate dark green vegetables into our diets. It seems as though these green giants are being left out and being over taken by foods that are processed, full of sodium, sugar, and other things I can’t pronounce!

Dark green vegetables provide much needed nutrients and benefits that our bodies need to function properly. They‘re calorie for calorie, perhaps the most concentrated source of nutrition of any food. They are a rich source of minerals (including iron, calcium, potassium, and magnesium) and vitamins, including vitamins K, C, E, and many of the B vitamins.

Top Ten Reasons Why You Should Eat Your Greens:

(1) Aids in keeping bones strong.

(2) Detoxifies: helps rid the body of toxins.

(3) Great source of fiber.

(4) Cancer prevention: one of the best cancer preventing foods due to the high levels of antioxidants.

(5) Boosts immune system.

(6) Helps slow the aging processes & prevent age related diseases.

(7) Aids in preventing coronary heart disease.

(8) Skin: healthy skin is supported by eating different types of leafy green vegetables. Vitamin A minimizes the production of sebum, helping to limit acne This nutrient also strengthens the skin's protective tissue and helps to flush out toxins.

(8) Pregnancy Health: the nutrients in dark leafy greens, in combination with their omega-3 fatty acid content, make these vegetables almost as potent as a pre-natal vitamin supplement, and much easier for the body to absorb.

(9) Also, keep in mind, the darker the green, the healthier the vegetable because a richer color translates into  a higher chlorophyll .

(10) They're just plain good for you!

Some of my personal favorites that I can not live without daily are:
(1) Naked’s Green Machine(see product review)

(2) Broccoli

(3) Spinach (prepackaged & frozen)

(4) Prepackaged salads with dark leafy greens (no iceberg lettuce, that stuff is like eating paper…no nutritional value/benefits what-so-ever!)
