In honor of Earth Day (April 22, 2011) I thought it would be great to give ideas on how to decorate a home with something that many people throw away everyday...food cans. Yes, that's right I said cans. Take a look at some inexpensive yet chic ways you can use that empty corn can to beautify your home.
Organizers
Cans make great organizers for your desk/office and craft supplies . Simply take a clean can with the wrapper removed. Measure the height and width of the can. Next, take fabric or decorative paper and cut according to the can's height and width. Wrap the paper/fabric around the can and adhere it with decoupage medium (if you're using decorative paper) or a glue gun (if you're using fabric).
Lanterns & Candle Holders
Cans are a cheap way to light up an outside event or home. There are 101 ways on how to create a lantern/candle holder using a can, but really all it takes is a little creativity. If you don't know where to start, Apartment Therapy gives step by step instructions on how to make this simple craft project.
Planters &Vases
Who would have thought of turning cans into matching planters or vases? Not I, and I consider myself to be pretty crafty. Take a look at Apartment Therapy and Martha Stewart to get an idea on how to go about creating these darling little works of art.
Happy Earth Day Everyone,
Pam
